Compatibility and performance Evaluation of nano-structured materials in field

The compatibility and efficiency of innovative nano-structured materials in relation to application technique and environmental and pollution parameters will be evaluated in four main sites: the Cathedral of Cologne (Germany), Santa Croce Church in Florence (Italy), Stavropoleos Monastery (Romania) and Cathedral of Oviedo (Spain). The case studies were selected to perform a simplified evaluation of product efficiency after one-year of natural weathering exposition to compare the global effects of different climatic and pollutant parameters on treated substrates.

The objectives of WP4 are:
- To assess the state of conservation of historic substrates to be treated
- Field-exposure tests on substrates models treated with the metal-alkoxide solutions/sols
- To apply the different metal-alkoxide solutions/sols on real surfaces
- To perform field campaigns for the assessment of treatments on site
- To collect environmental data (physical and chemical) and their processing
- To evaluate the effectiveness / performance of nano-structured materials treatments on site and the methodology of application in real fields
